Why get an Inlay or Onlay?
If you’re looking for another option to a complete porcelain crown, these restorations are an easy and effective treatment. At Comfort Dental RI, we are able to fix damage or tooth decay in the cusp of a tooth through our inlays and onlays. Inlays are much like a traditional filling, but are much more authentic. When rebuilding a significant part of the tooth that extends beyond one or more tooth cusps an onlay is an important fix. When a traditional filling falls out we like to use an inlay as it is a more durable option.
What to Expect
During the initial visit we will clean and prepare the injured tooth for the 3D digital scan. This process takes a very short time during which time we provide the image via a digital model to our lab technician who will proceed in creating the inlay or onlay for your tooth. You will leave the office with a temporary filling for your tooth while you wait for your final visit with us.
You will be required to visit a second time when your inlay or onlay is ready to be fitted to the damaged tooth. We will make sure that the fit and aesthetics meets all our expectations before permanently cementing it.
Please feel free to call with any questions or concerns at any time during this process.
Final Result
You teeth will look and feel natural. Inlays and Onlays are a great way to gain functionality from your teeth. You’ll have a renewed confidence in your teeth and we will guide you through the entire process.
