What causes white spots on teeth?

Most white sports are harmless, but the look can wear on your self esteem. If you are looking for a way to remove white spots from your teeth, and boost your self-confidence Comfort Dental Rhode Island is here to help.

  • Demineralization of enamel usually occurs on mature teeth from oral bacteria and poor hygiene which can cause decalcification by wearing down enamel.

  • Enamel hypoplasia is a condition caused by vitamin deficiency, medication side effects, premature birth, and parental smoking. These conditions don’t allow normal formation of enamel and can make your teeth more susceptible to decay.

  • Fluorosis is a condition that occurs when children with developing teeth have too much fluoride. The right amount of fluoride is good, but too much can affect normal enamel formation.
