Dental Implants

Many of us have lost a tooth for one reason or another.  Do not fret!  We are here to help you get your smile back to its old self!

Why would I need a Dental Implant?

Unfortunately it’s not always possible to save a tooth. An implant is a great alternative to other dental options. If you are in good health, have a good bone structure in your jaw, healthy gums, and great dental habits then Dental Implants are a good option for you.

What to Expect

Using surgical methods, dental implants are placed below the gum and into the jawbone in order to provide stability for artificial teeth. If your jawline has lost bone a bone graft will still make a dental implant possible. You will not have to worry about shifts in your mouth or slippage with bridges and dentures with implants, making the acts of eating and speaking more natural and comfortable for you. As with any dental procedure follow-ups and regular visits are vital to good oral health with your new implants.

Dental implants explanation

The number of visits you will require depends on your individual case. We begin the procedure by giving you local anesthesia and then place the implant into the bone. After sewing the gums up it will take up to 3 months to heal. After that time we will test the implant to make sure it fused correctly to the bone. If it has healed correctly, which we expect, we will then continue on by attaching a small healing cap to the implant and surface of your gums to help shape them before receiving your final crown.

At the following visit, we will remove the healing cap and apply an impression coping made exclusively for you. During this same visit, we will take X Rays and impressions as well as photos of your teeth for your crown.

After your appointment

In approximately 2 weeks you will return for your final visit. This is a quick and easy visit. After removing your healing cap and disinfecting the site we will insert your permanent crown. The second set of x-rays will be taken to make sure that we have a tight fit. You will be sent home with proper care and instructions, and as always we encourage you to contact our office with any concerns or questions.
